50km in May for NDCS

In May, the National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) held a fundraising event where the aim was for all supporters to contribute towards a distance of 50km and fundraise as best they could. Today marks the end of this fundraising event. Our TOD (Teacher of the Deaf), our signing teacher, our hospital team and the NDCS have been our support when navigating the world of Deafness and Cochlear Implants.

I was desperate to learn as much as I could and as quickly as possible to give Jasmine the best start and to support her needs but I also wanted her to excel and meet her potential. I didn’t want my ignorance to hold her back. I listened carefully, I attended NDCS events and learnt to sign. I read and I ordered booklets and read some more. The NDCS are awesome. Here is a video we made during lockdown which the NDCS have used to mark the final day of 50km in May. I hope it makes you smile. I am so incredibly proud of ‘my favourite middle child’ Jasmine. We made this in one take only.

The NDCS have so far raised over £63,000 in one month. Well done!!
